All Things Pumpkin

It's my favorite time of year folks!  The time when the pumpkins come out and a nip is in the air...ok well for us Texans, the nip may be a little further away.  I. Love. Pumpkins.  I love to eat pumpkin.  I love to decorate with pumpkins.  I love my babies to look like pumpkins.  It's true and I'm not sure if there is a 12-step program for people with my condition, but I might need one.  It is perhaps a symptom of the time of year, when the heat finally subsides and the sun light changes the colors of our world.  It is simply a beautiful thing.  My fall decor supplies are at the ready and today I will share a few things I have been pinning for inspiration.

First up: FOOD.  I can't tell you how excited I get when the pumpkin goodies start hitting the menus.

Make your own pumpkin latte.

I am in desperate need of this pumpkin risotto.
My regular morning coffee at work would be so much better with this pumpkin creamer.

Next to Heaven
Next Up: DECOR.  Nothing says fall like a few pumpkins sitting around.

These would be so cute sitting in our fireplace.

How simple this would be and so cute in a large glass container.
Over the weekend, we were at Pottery Barn Outlet and I fell for these mercury glass pumpkins hard.

Next Up: KIDS.  I am looking forward to being able to share my pumpkin love with my little love Vivi.

Viv would make the cutest pumpkin if she had one of these super cute knit pumpkin hats

Little Voice Knitting on Etsy

How cute is this little pumpkin craft made out of paper strips?

That's it folks.  If you would like to see what other pumpkin goodness I'm pinning, feel free to follow me on Pinterest.

Vivienne's Weekly Photo #35

This time of year starts to get hectic around the Young house and time flies faster than ever.  Things with Vivienne seem to rush by and it's difficult to stop and savor them sometimes.  I cherish these weekly moments to stop and reflect on her latest accomplishments like trying new foods such as cheese, broccoli and pasta.  She is getting so much better at chewing her food and not scaring us to death with choking noises.

Bed time is quite the adventure these days as she would much rather roll around and practice crawling rather than sleep.  Eventually she will settle down and put her self to sleep like a big girl.  She loves her bed and mommy loves that she loves her bed.

Week 35

I have no doubt that she will become quite the mover and shaker as these outtakes illustrate!

Planning a Girl's Bathroom

Now that Vivienne is getting bigger, I have been thinking about her bathroom upstairs and it's need for a makeover. Desperately.  We haven't touched that bathroom since we moved in, other than taking towel bars down and adding hooks.  The floor is vinyl and the baseboards are in dire straits.  I would love to replace the bathroom vanity up there with a double sink in anticipation of a second little one some day and keep it fun and youthful but not too crazy that it can't evolve as the little ones grow.  Here is a quick little color board to show what I have been contemplating.

Girls BR

Of course our goal is to keep it affordable and yet durable to stand the test of time children.  Below I put together a source list along with the costs for an idea of the budget.

Product 1

Godmorgon Vanity and Odensvik Sink - IKEA  $399.00

Lundskar Faucet - IKEA                                 $ 99.00

Moen Chrome Vanity Light - Lowe's                $277.08

American Olean Sausalito Tile - Lowe's         $  2.57/sf @50sf

Aqua Source White Dual Flush Toilet - Lowe's  $ 99.99

Product 2

   Ekby Jarpen/Ekby Stilig Shelf - IKEA                $ 17.99

    Ung Drill Mirror - IKEA                                    $ 39.99

   Bollkaktus Curtains - IKEA                               $ 24.99

Room Essentials Bath Rug - Target                     $ 19.99

   Trogen Footstool - IKEA                                  $ 19.99

   GRAND TOTAL                                          $1,126.52

The above list shows a couple of items from IKEA that I would modify the color of like the mirror and the step stool.  Nothing that a can of spray paint can't solve!  I can't wait to get up there and rip those nasty floors out!  We must save our pretty pennies in the interim, but there is no time like the present to start planning right?  Right.

Vivienne's Weekly Photo #34

Here we are again, another week down.  Vivienne is growing like a weed and keeping us thoroughly entertained!  Lately she has developed the skill of spitting.  Well it is basically sticking her tongue out and blowing.  Whether it is in disgust, delight or as a sign of being finished like with food or bottle, we are still figuring it out.

Another big development is that she is going crazy in her crib at night.  She is moving all over the place.  She has also developed the habit of sleeping on her stomach, which scared the bejeezus out of us, but after watching her on the monitor roll herself over and over and over again we decided she was fine.

She is on the verge of crawling any day now!  With proper motivation she is going to be a mover.  That motivation usually comes in the shape of a dog or a cat.

We are practicing our sign language more and more after we attended a baby sign and play class over the weekend.  The class was focused on animals so there is a lot of signing about dogs and cats these days, with a few ducks and pigs thrown in for good measure.

Week 34

I love this outtake because it looks like she is doing some sweet karate moves!
Week 34A

I love that this one shows her delicately touching the pink dot to see what it is.

Vivienne's Weekly Photo #33

Vivienne has had a great week 33.  As you read in yesterday's post, she met some extended family members and was able to swim at her auntie's new house.  She loved the pool so much and can't wait to go back to practice her side stroke that her Grandee taught her. :)

Another milestone she had this week was she has begun sleeping on her side.  It is super cute and she looks so content with one leg up in the running man pose.

She continues to be more and more mobile and is great at going from a seated position to a belly/ready to crawl position.  She is still very good at pushing herself backwards and sideways, but no forward motion yet.  We think it will happen any day now.

While traveling over the last few weekends, Vivienne has experienced her first pre-made foods.  She enjoyed the new flavors and mommy enjoyed the convenience.  I really like the Plum Organics brand because they are always certified organic, no GMO and come in nifty little pouches.  It is so easy to squeeze the desired amount on to the spoon for baby V.  She loved them.  We are still doing the home-made organic foods but will add these into the rotation especially with the nanny.

Week 33

This week's outtakes are brought to you by the letter F.  F is for fun.

 Week 33B

F is for feisty.

F is for fascinated.

Summer Lovin'

Projects at our house were put on hold for a couple of weeks to enjoy some time with family, say goodbye to loved ones and say hello to new opportunities.  We traveled to West Texas a couple of weekends ago to finally lay Devin's Granny Ree to rest and spend some time with some of his extended family.  It was so nice to be able to share in the love that the Young family has and to remember the Youngs who are no longer with us.  We loved introducing Vivienne to her extended family and it was a joy to see V with her second cousins Olive and Nora Kate.

Vivienne practiced sharing with Nora Kate.  They were so cute together.

After we said good bye until we meet again to Devin's family, we then worked on helping my sister get moved.  She is moving on to bigger and better things with a new career in another town in Texas.  We are very happy because she is closer to us and she has a pool.  I have to say that the call of the pool helped encourage us to move her since it was a nice reward.  Vivienne LOVES the water.  She is great at kicking and splashing and is actually pretty darn good at floating on her back.  We had so much fun with her in the water.

We were happy to be able to squeeze in a few swims before the warm weather ends here in Texas...which isn't until October typically.

We are home now and have a few projects in the chute so I hope to share with you our progress soon.  It's like living in a time warp with an infant sometimes.

Vivienne's Weekly Photo #32

The big 8 months!  It is so hard to believe that our baby girl is getting so big.  Time certainly flies when you're having fun, and fun she is!  I have started having her wear shoes more often now that she is a big girl and she isn't too sure about them.  She loves to play with them in her hands and then when I put them on her, she shakes her feet to get them off.  No fussing, no crying, just shaking.  She eventually resounds herself to the fact that they aren't coming off and goes on with life.  I did notice the other day that when she grabbed the shoe from the changing table while I was doing her hair, she put it down to her foot like she was trying to put it on.

On the food front, I made her butternut squash and it was a hit.  So far, there hasn't been much that she didn't care for and it shows in her chunky legs!

She is also perfecting her rolls and is hard to keep still while dressing or changing.  She would much rather roll over and get to moving!  I have a feeling the crawl will happen any day now.

Week 32

This week's outtakes just go to show how much she loves to roll now!
